Well my brother collected both of his remaining pictures, it took me a while to get motivated and finish them. The spare room looks very bear now - as I started them this time last year. It was a set of three but as soon as I finished the first he took it away. The missing picture, which I don’t have a photo of is of the Island of Lambay as seen from the beach in Donabate, it also has our parents as seen from the back looking towards the island and features the beach and the Martello Tower. I must get a photo of that one!
Ha'penny Bridge, Dublin
This is the oil painting which I painted for my brother, from a photograph he had taken looking towards the Ha’penny Bridge and showing the view towards the famous James’s Gate the home of Guinness.
Skerries at dusk
This is the other oil painting that I painted for my brother, again it is from a photograph which he took of a fishing trawler just outside the fishing harbour of Skerries which is in North County Dublin.

I was browsing the Next website - as I signed up to their newsletter, which has a section on home interiors and their Christmas selection of tablewares and homewares.
I noticed they have a NOEL, in large gold letters but you can have fun creating a diy set of these letters. You can get your letters at Inspiring Ideas, I saw them their during the week at €6 or theirabouts each, for a large white letter, ready for decorating in any colour combination you like.
This idea is not just for christmas, but as you may have seen in many an interior design mag/article you can spell out just about anything from the HOME to a childs personalised room name right through to BATHROOM…………. the combination is really only limited by your imagination.

Well so far we’ve had three classes at the national college of art & design, it really is completely different than going along to the local night class.
It’s great that we are shown the techniques and how to achieve different effects, rather than jumping straight in and then be shown where we’re going wrong so to speak. This way we do it right the first time. It’s really up to us how much we get out of it and of course how much we put into it.
I’m looking forward to the remaining classes, its such a good experience.

I caught up with one of the exhibitors from the Peoples Art on the phone earlier in the week to ask some advice on the up coming exhibition at the Marriott Johnstown House Hotel.
The craftswoman in question was Elisabetta Ravarino-Healy, she works in glass and makes the most exquisite one off pieces of jewellery and giftware. She is listed on the Crafts Council of Ireland as a craftsperson.
Anyway, I had cause to call to visit her in her home and its such a treasure trove of art, crafts and boxes of beads and fabric - I could have spent a few hours there - just rummaging.
I told her that I’d give her a mention and so her is her mention. She takes part in exhibitions and craftfairs throughout the country and is just recovering from exhibiting at the Ploughing Championships. Elisabetta can be contacted at +353.86.8215794, she is also listed on the crafts council website www.ccoi.ie

This is one of the “My Time” series of clocks which I made and exhibited for the Peoples Art exhibition at Christmas 2007, I later gave it to someone as a present, When they asked if that could be their Christmas gift.

The Peoples Art Exhibition normally held in St. Andrews Parish Centre in Lucan and which was planned for October 2008, will not be going ahead.
We are disappointed that this exhibition has been cancelled, it was a really great weekend.
We are now in a position that we have some works already in process and nowhere to exhibit…… so watch this space.
As soon as we have another venue organized we’ll make an announcement.

I set up the gallery page a few weeks ago, I have been adding to it but just realized that its not possible to receive comments on the work placed there. Hence I have deceided to put the details here as a post as well as add them to the Gallery page.
Thats the plan anyway, so I hope it works out okay.

This is a painting which I gave to a special someone as a gift, so it never has and never will be exhibited. I painted it from a photograph I took, on a lovely summers day on the grass overlooking the beach in Malahide, Co. Dublin. I just happened to catch my son in mid-air while playing ball and showing off his skills.

This is a painting of Jordan Poppy, a Trophy fishing boat, off the Coast of Ireland, in the background is Lambay Island, Dublin.
I painted this from a photograph that I took, the boat belongs to a friend of my husband. It was in my hall gathering dust when the owner of the vessel arrived one day and spotted it. He was delighted to take it home with him, but I miss it!
I hope to update this page with both old and new pieces of artwork, this is my very own exhibition space. Items are displayed with the newest entry first on the page. This is one of my clocks from the “My Time” collection of clocks which I exhibited for the Christmas exhibition 2007. It is deep canvas which has been embellished with glass mosaic peices in different colours, it is a one of a kind piece.

As a member of a number of art groups I have a lot of friends who I share this hobby with. Each of the artists carry out their art as their hobby and when we exhibit there is a great buzz.
Each artist has their own particular style and its great to get together and see what each other are working on.

This painting is an original oil painting by a very good friend of mine, Marie Morrow. She painted it in 2005 and it was exhibited at an art exhibition as part of BrushworX Art Group at the South Dublin library at the Superquinn shopping centre at Lucan.
I loved this picture so much that I got my husband to buy it. It now takes pride of place in my dining room.
Marie has a very particular style when painting, show me a group of paintings and I can pick out a “Marie Morrow” within minutes. Of all the exhibitions that Marie and I have carried out together, Marie always surprises me with the quality of her work and the vast range of her inspiration. I am looking forward to seeing what Marie is working on now…. I must give her a call.

I’ve just set up the Art Gallery page, which I hope to add to over the next few weeks, I intend to use the page as my personal exhibition space.
I will start by adding my older pieces which have been exhibited in the past. The pieces that are current works in progress will be put on display only after they have been exhibited off line at the exhibitions that I will be participating in over the next few months.
I will post the details of the exhibitions nearer to the launch date…… watch this space.
